This is a kind of welcome page. It cannot tell all but it will serve as an introduction to this site of my work in the field of painting etc.
I started drawing and painting at an early age and continued at school and then, for about three years, at two art schools in London: Central and Chelsea. These were the late 1960s. Circumstances and some crazy behaviour of mine caused me to stop painting and take up photography in 1968/9, mainly in order to earn a living. Circumstances changed again when I moved to France in 1973 and became a joiner/cabinet-maker. They changed once again around 1983 when I start working in wine, which remains my professional activity today.
Throughout this period I have returned, sporadically, to painting which has never ceased to be essential to me. The works shown here represent various periods between the late 1970s and today. During this time I have had five exhibitions, mostly quite small and usually in unexpected places. The most recent one dates from the summer of 2021 in a winery near Bordeaux (Château Larrivet Haut-Brion). Another is scheduled for the spring of 2022 in another winery, this time in the Luberon. Maybe thnigs are speeding up a bit? Watch this space……
